Denominations

Forest Stream Animated

Perístanom includes the following denominations, or Wereinas [/wɛˈrɛɪnas/] 🔊, and affiliated organizations.

Orthodox Perístanom: Denomination contains only those core beliefs common to all Soqjós.

Cat God

Smalosian Perístanom: Denomination identical to the Orthodox denomination but for the addition of a theriomorphic god named Smálos [/ˈsmɑlɔs/] 🔊. He is an ancestral and warrior deity, a prodigious, wild, feline god, and parent to the race of giants. (Founding and artwork by Terra Jordan.)

Four Panels of Sun and Moon

Syzygian Perístanom: Denomination identical to the Orthodox denomination but for the interchange of genders between the lunar deity and the solar deity. Thus, Ménots is herein regarded as a god, and Sáwel is herein regarded as a goddess.

Armillary Sphere

Androgynean Perístanom: Denomination identical to the Orthodox denomination but for the addition of a prophecy—the prophecy of Stérlamaqa [/ˈsterlɑˌmɑkwa/] 🔊. Androgynean Soqjós believe that, at some unknown time in the future, an intersexual and multiethnic child will be born to save the world. The savior, whose true name will be Wirocénos [/wirɔˈgwɛnɔs/] 🔊, will be a true hermaphrodite (46XX/46XY mosaic) and a demigod—the offspring of a mortal woman and the sky god, Djéus Patér [/ˈdjeʊs pɑˈter/] 🔊. This ‘miraculous birth’ is believed by some to be logically necessary in order for Déiwos to evolve within this universe filled with consciousness. The demigod will unite the manifest opposites, of female and male, dark and light, youth and age, wisdom and folly, good and evil, divinity and mortality, faith and science. When referring to Wirocénos, Androgynean Soqjós may employ gender-neutral pronouns. An example, in English, would be the singular ‘they’, or the neopronouns ‘zhe’ [/ˈʒi/] 🔊 (nominative), ‘hirm’ [/ˈhɜm/] 🔊 (accusative and dative), ‘hirmself’ [/hɜmˈsɛlf/] 🔊 (reflexive), and ‘hios’ [/ˈhjoz/] 🔊 (dependent and independent genitives). (‘Hirm’ evokes the name ‘Hermaphroditus’, while ‘hios’, containing the letters ‘i’ and ‘o’ adjacently, evokes both of the binary numerals ‘1’ and ‘0’.) Alternatively, the traditional feminine pronous may be applied, in recognition of the manifestation of the Supreme Goddess in us all. (It may be noted that, in human biology, in the absence of certain genetic modifiers, the default sex is female.) A total solar eclipse—the union of Ménots (Moon) and Sáwel (Sun)—will herald the birth of Wirocénos, and the child will bear the Mark of the Androgyne—perhaps a birthmark suggesting the shape of a circle pierced by an arrow, combining the ideograms for Venus, Mars, and Sagittarius, the intersex symbol pictured above, (beside an armillary sphere).

Comrades of Perístanom

Comrades of Perístanom: Group officially named Perístanos Soqjóm Kommoinitáts [/pɛˈrɪstanɔs sɔkwˈjom kɔmmɔɪnɪˈtats/] 🔊 (‘The Community of the Comrades of Perístanom’, post-nominal letters: PSK). It is a primarily pedagogical community, dedicated to sharing the message of Perístanom with the world. No hierarchical distinction is drawn within the group between clergy and laity. No oaths are required, and no ranks are recognized, save administrators for the group periodically elected by all members. The Comrades are neither exclusive nor exclusionary, and membership is open to any person interested in Perístanom who accepts the moral principle of democracy—of democratic control by a majority of stakeholders—within and beyond all institutions. Any significant changes in the group’s official curriculum—currently based upon the material found on the present website, although not constrained by it—are decided democratically by confirmed members of the group. The community is presently centered in Boston, Massachusetts, although is global in potential scope.

Order of the Androgyne

Order of the Androgyne: Group officially named Diwós Wirocénosjo Monwowostujós Smghos [/dɪˈwɔs wirɔˈgwɛnɔsjɔ mɔnwɔwɔstʊˈjɔs ˈsmghɔs/] 🔊 (‘The Monastic Order of the Divine Androgyne’, post-nominal letters: DWMS). It is a hospitaller order of Androgynean Perístanom located outside Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Knights of Gaia

Order of the Knights of Gaia: Group officially named The Most Diverse, Egalitarian, and Democratic Order of the Knights of Gaia, post-nominal letters: KOG (Knight of the Order of Gaia), honorific: ‘Dame’ (feminine), ‘Sir’ (masculine), ‘Sio’ [/ˈsjo/] 🔊 (gender-neutral, containing within it the letters ‘i’ and ‘o’ adjacently and evoking both of the binary numerals ‘1’ and ‘0’), or any preferred alternative. It is a military order of chivalry established in 1992 by author and activist John Seymour, who first conceived of it earlier that year in London over dinner and wine in the company of clergyman John Papworth. Online since 2002, the order is dedicated to preserving the health of the biosphere and promoting justice for all of Earth’s creatures. Mysticism fosters the courage of the knights. Their standard is the Gaia Flag.

Helikón [/hɛlɪˈkɔn/] 🔊 (Ἑλικών): According to Androgynean prophetic lore, a rotating orbital space station in the shape of a double helix one thousand kilometers above our planet. It is to be constructed in the future at the request of Wirocénos.
